Work Experience Taster Tempts Two Trainees to Expanding Accountancy Practice, Green & CoSam Chris

Cwmbran based three partner Chartered Certified Accountants, Green & Co have added two new trainee accountants to their rapidly expanding team.

Samantha Quinn and Christopher Dawes, who joined Green & Co in July, are being supported by the practice in their studies for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Sam, who recently achieved a BSc in Accounting at Cardiff University, is the daughter of one of the firm’s clients. Sam gained work experience with the firm whilst studying for her GCSE’s and also in the Summers of both 2006 and 2007, whilst still a student.

Sam, who enjoys swimming and reading in her free time, said “I have always been interested in the book keeping for my parent’ business and this drew me into studying accountancy at University.  The work experience at Green & Co was great and gave me a good understanding of what the role would entail before I started as a team member.  I enjoyed the friendly environment and client focused approach, and knew that this was somewhere I would love to work.”

Chris Dawes, a keen footballer, is awaiting his A’ Level results in Maths, History and Economics.  Chris first came into contact with Green & Co when he delivered the paper to them when he was working for the local newsagent.  After an initial period of work experience with the firm when he was 15, he returned for a second session shortly afterwards.  Due to his time with Green & Co, and his keen interest in mathematics, his favourite subject, Chris was certain that accountancy was the career for him.

Nick Park, partner with Green & Co, said “We believe in promoting the profession to people who want a challenging, stimulating career, with a good understanding of the paramount importance of client service.  Through the time that Samantha and Chris spent on work experience with the practice we have seen firsthand their enthusiasm and commitment to achieving their studies.  We are delighted to support them both in their journey to the ACCA qualification, and I have no doubt that they will make a valuable contribution to our team.”
