Do I Need to Make My July Tax Payment?
Most self-assessment taxpayers make one tax payment in January and a second in July each year. These are known as “payments on account”.
As part of the governments plan to help you through the coronavirus pandemic, they have extended the deadline for your second payment from 31 July 2020 to 31 January 2021.
You don’t need to inform HMRC that you will be delaying your payment, and no interest or penalties will be raised, as long as you pay before 31 January 2021.
You can make a full payment anytime before this date, or you can set up a payment plan online or by contacting the payment support service on 0300 200 3835.
