Dog Attacks Still a Major Concern for Welsh Farmers Union

17 July 2019

As part of the Farmers’ Union of Wales (FUW) campaign ‘Your Dog, Your Responsibility’, free gate post warning signs will be handed out at the Royal Welsh Show next week.

Dog attacks on livestock in the country are still a major concern for farmers across Wales, and the campaign aims to raise awareness of the problem. The issues not only lie in the devastation that these attacks can cause on livestock, but also the serious diseases that can be spread by people not clearing up after their dogs.

In the market today with tight margins, the additional costs of veterinary bills as well as potentially thousands in lost stock are causing serious implications for many farmers around the county who find themselves at financial and emotional breaking point.

The free signs can be picked up directly from any of the FUW’s 11 offices around Wales, or from the FUW pavilion at the Royal Welsh Show running from the 22nd – 25th July.
