EU Fund To Assist Innovation In The Industry

14 October 2015

Under the latest phase of European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability, £5million of funding is now available.

The grants are given to boost productivity in the livestock, arable, horticultural and forestry sectors, whilst also potentially creating ground-breaking new technology

Worth between £5,000 and £150,000 the grants will be available to projects encouraging new farming techniques, and unlocking innovation in the farming industry.

Commenting on the scheme, Farming Minister George Eustice said: “This fund will enable groups to come together to test and implement exciting new ideas to solve problems and increase farm and forest productivity. By looking to other sectors, such as medicine, for inspiration and knowledge transfer, it facilitates even greater innovation. I look forward to seeing the interesting work that will follow to boost and protect rural productivity.”

Several workshops are due to take place around the country during September to help groups looking to submit an application. These workshops will allow them to share and test out new ideas and help with forming their proposals.

Groups made up of two or more members of farmers, forest managers, researchers and business from across the country are invited to apply.
