Farming Business Grant

The Welsh government have introduced a new grant to help farmers improve the economic and environmental performance of their agricultural holdings.

The Farming Business Grant (FBG) will provide successful applicants with a 40% contribution towards capital investments in equipment and machinery that will offer clear and quantifiable benefits to farm enterprises.

A total of £40m will be available to eligible welsh farmers over a 4 year period, with grants ranging from £3,000 to £12,000.

To be eligible to apply, farmers need to have the following:

  • a valid customer reference number (CRN) and county parish holding (CPH) number
  • 3ha of eligible registered agricultural land within Wales, or are able to demonstrate over 550 standard labour hours per annum
  • a turnover less than £1million
  • not have been successful under the sustainable production grant scheme.

The final window to apply in the 2017/18 financial year is between 29 January 2018 and 2 March 2018.
