You would think that farming would be an occupation where you were likely to be able to keep healthy – however it has been found that this is not the case. Due to the nature of the industry individuals can have such issues as:
- Injuries due to the physical strain of the job and extreme weather conditions
- Mental health issues due to the isolation of generally working alone
- Not getting help soon enough – In particular men are notorious for not approaching the doctor when issues arise
A booklet has been prepared by the Farming Community Network and the Men’s Health Forum to help people stay fit and well in the countryside. The booklet is 40 pages and covers such issues as managing your weight, cancer, aging and accidents. You can download a copy from the Men’s Health Forum.
