HMRC Launch Free Gift Aid Guide
HM Revenue and Customs have published a free online guide to help charities complete Gift Aid donation schedules.
The step-by-step guide tells charities how to claim back tax on eligible donations, help in choosing the right software, and advice on completing the schedule and filling in the form.
This follows on from research last year, which showed that charities are missing out on an estimated £600m as people are not enabling them to collect Gift Aid donations. Following publication of the data, HMRC said it would support Gift Aid initiatives and was writing to 50,000 small charities to raise awareness of those that are in place.
