How to Make a Claim for the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme

The Government have introduced the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme to allow eligible businesses to offer a discount to their diners and encourage them to eat at their restaurant.
The service you’ll use to claim reimbursements is now live and can be accessed here – Make a Claim – this will be available until 30 September.
You won’t be able to make a claim until 7 days after you have registered. The registration portal is now open, you can find out how to register here.
HMRC will pay eligible claims within 5 working days, and you will be able to submit your claims on a weekly basis.
Please note, you’ll still need to pay VAT based on the full amount of your customers’ bills, but VAT on food and non-alcoholic drinks has currently been reduced to 5%.
Any money you receive through the scheme will be treated as taxable income.
More guidance on how to make a claim will be made avaiable shortly.
